What Is Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a form of hands-on treatment that was developed by Andrew Taylor Still. It is much more than just manipulative treatment for back pain; it aims to restore health to the whole body by gentle manual manipulation to all the tissues of the body including bones, muscles, connective tissues, nerves, blood vessels, nerve and other organs of the body. Osteopaths work with the whole person’s self-healing and self-restorative processes to maintain health, optimise function, prevent dysfunctions and treat many conditions of ill-health. Osteopaths work with the integral inter-relationships between structure and function, between anatomy and physiology.
It is suitable for people of all ages from babies to the elderly and in any state of health. For those suffering from a permanent condition or general ill-health, treatment can greatly improve quality of life by reducing pain, encouraging mobility and healthy-functioning of the tissues.
