Assistant Tutor (AT) Program

The SCTF of ANZ extends an open invitation to osteopaths who are experienced in, and committed to OCF, prepared to work harmoniously as part of a team, and interested in helping to teach Dr Sutherland’s work.

The minimum requirements for prospective ATs are:

  • Current registration as an osteopath with the relevant State Registration Board in Australia or New Zealand
  • Have professional indemnity insurance (minimum $10,000,000) and notify the insurer of proposed teaching involvement
  • Utilize OCF predominantly in daily clinical practice
  • Have successfully completed a minimum of three Fundamentals Courses, or two Fundamentals Courses plus one Intermediate Course conducted by the S.C.T.F. of A.N.Z. or U.S.A., or the Cranial Academy. (Other course providers may be recognized, please consult the ATC).

How do I become an AT?

The process is one of application, interview, and then if acceptable to the SCTF Faculty and to the applicant, an invitation to join the training scheme. The interview includes the opportunity for applicants to demonstrate up to date background knowledge of OCF and to fully discuss everyone’s expectations.

What does the AT program involve?

You will participate as an assistant tutor on Fundamental courses, where you will work with different faculty members, and be supported as your teaching skills develop. This follows a graded program starting with observation through to independent tutoring under supervision. As a general guide you would normally need to assist on two fundamentals and a BLT course as an AT before becoming a faculty member. Further details of expected commitments, which will be considered on an individual basis, can be discussed with the AT Coordinator.ATC. When you and the faculty feel you are ready, you will be invited to join as full faculty.

How do I apply?

Contact the AT CoordinatorATC with an expression of interest and you will be sent an application form as the first step. Please feel free to contact the AT CordinatorATC if you have any queries. Thank you for your interest in getting involved.
